Bright Springs Road Structure Fire
February 9th, 2026
Shell Knob, MO
At 10:53 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026, Central Crossing Fire was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the Bright Springs Road area. Upon arrival, crews found a single-story building fully engulfed. No fatalities or injuries have been reported at this time, and all crews returned to service at approximately 1:31 AM on February 8. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
Central Crossing Fire responded with three engines, two tankers, and one chief. They were supported by auto-aid partners, including Southern Stone with one engine, one tanker, and one chief. Eagle Rock also provided one tanker; their engine was initially en route before being diverted to a motor vehicle accident in their own district.
We would like to thank our auto-aid partners for their response, as well as Mercy EMS, Barry 911, and Stone 911 for their vital assistance.
This fire provides us with crucial information that can potentially save lives. The fire was reported when the flames had already reached the roof, and due to its location, the response was extended. By having the bedroom door closed, the occupants were able to create a small, safe space within the structure, aside from the garage. Although the fire eventually spread through the ceiling, this action gave people time to evacuate and use an alternative exit to escape the building. This serves as a stark reminder of the importance of closing doors, installing working smoke detectors, and having alternative exit routes.
