At approximately 2:00 PM, the Central Crossing Fire Protection District (CCFPD) was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the Discovery Bay area. The fire originated from a UTV inside a garage.
Upon arrival, CCFPD crews found a multi-family dwelling with smoke damage to the garage. Residents on the scene had successfully pushed the burning UTV onto the driveway apron, removing it from the structure. Crews extinguished the vehicle, checked the building for fire extension, and ventilated the residence to clear the smoke.
Initial mutual aid was requested from Southern Stone, Eagle Rock, and Cassville; however, those units were canceled once CCFPD crews arrived and sized up the scene. On-scene units included Central Crossing Car 2, Ladder 1, and Tankers 1, 5, and 11. No injuries were reported. CCFPD units returned to service around 3 PM.
